DENTAL DESIGNS CLINIC ORCHARD

“A dentist visit should never be scary or traumatic.”
With this goal in mind, we set out to create a dental space that nurtures calm and delight. Envisioned as an oasis of rest, the design takes a deliberate departure from the typical clinical environment.
As one approaches the entrance, the facade reveals horizontal bands of raw birch plywood and hints of greenery — welcoming patients with the promise of a warm, tactile space they can ease into. Inside, a custom-stained plywood bench, granite water fountain, and overhanging glass pendant anchor the waiting lounge, where the soft trickle of water introduces the first layer of sensorial calm.
A consistent palette of nature-based materials continues throughout, while greenery acts as visual markers that gently guide patients through the space. In quieter zones such as the photo studio and the corridor’s end, pressed florals and alpine hay surfaces — disguised as artwork — release delicate summer scents, offering a second, more intimate layer of sensory engagement.
Tucked at the perimeters, the treatment rooms are spacious and generously filled with daylight. While offering privacy and enclosure, these spaces of care are designed to eliminate a sense of isolation. These rooms remain open and connected – offering patients an uninterrupted panoramic view of Singapore’s bustling Orchard shopping district beyond.
The design ultimately seeks to extend the dental experience beyond clinical necessity. Beyond the public-facing areas, operational zones are intentionally revealed. A framed viewing window and a screen of concrete ventilation blocks offer glimpses into the sterilizer room and its adjacent in-house dental laboratory —inviting patients to engage with the process and craft behind dentistry.
Can a dental visit be joyful and memorable?
We would like to believe the answer is yes.
